Privacy notice
This explains what crowdstop does with your information when you visit crowdstop.com, buy a package or fill in your onboarding form.
Who we are
crowdstop builds brands, websites and launch kits for small businesses. crowdstop is run by Byron Grimwood, a sole trader at 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, who is responsible for your information. If you have any questions, email hello@crowdstop.com.
When you visit our website
We only use advertising cookies if you say yes (see “Cookies” below). If you arrive through a friend's referral link, your browser remembers their referral code for 30 days so they get credit if you buy (see “Your browser” below). Like every website, our host keeps basic server logs, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure. If you email us, we use your email to reply.
When you buy and fill in your form
We collect:
- Your name, email address and phone number, from your order and your form.
- Your order details: the package you bought, any hosting add-on, the amount paid and the order ID. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
- Your answers about your business, your customers and the style you like.
- The referral code you arrived with, if any, so we can pay the person who referred you.
- Any files you upload, such as an old logo or photos.
Why we use it
We use your information to build what you paid for, send you proofs and finished files, and answer your questions. If you pay but don't finish your form, we send you a reminder email. Our legal basis is that we need it to carry out our contract with you. We keep payment records because the law requires it.
We don't sell your information. If you accept cookies, Meta's pixel tells Meta which package you bought and its price, so we can see which of our ads work. It never receives your brief, your files or your card details.
If you join Refer & earn
If you apply to refer people or make videos for us, we use your name, email, social links and bank details to run the scheme and pay you. Our legal basis is our agreement with you. We keep payment records for 6 years, as HMRC requires.
Who else sees it
- Stripe takes your payment, and runs the account page where hosting customers update their card or cancel.
- Our hosting and email provider runs our website and form, and delivers your answers to our inbox.
- AI tools. We use AI services, including Anthropic's Claude, to help draft designs, copy and your brand skills. We share your answers and files with them only for that work.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) receives which pages you visit, when you start checkout and which package you buy, plus a scrambled (hashed) copy of any email address you type into a form on our site, but only if you accept cookies. Meta uses this to measure and improve our ads, under its own privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on our website and form, so your browser connects to Google when a page loads.
Some of these providers may handle data outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your answers, files and emails for up to 2 years after your project ends, so we can help with changes. After that we delete them. We keep payment records for 6 years, as HMRC requires.
Your browser
Our onboarding form saves your answers in your own browser as you go, so a refresh doesn't lose them. They're cleared when you submit. If you came through a referral link, our website stores that referral code in your browser for 30 days, only to credit the person who referred you. It isn't shared with anyone else or used for advertising, and you can clear it by clearing your browser's site data. We also remember your cookie choice for 6 months, so we don't ask on every visit.
Cookies
When you first visit, we ask whether we can use Meta's pixel. It stays off unless you press Accept. If you do, Meta sets cookies in your browser and we tell Meta when you visit a page, start checkout or buy a package, with the package name and price. We use this to see which ads bring people to crowdstop and to show our ads to people more likely to be interested. Our legal basis is your consent.
You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings, here or in the footer of our homepage. Saying no doesn't change anything else on the site.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@crowdstop.com and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
